About Kilmainham Gaol
One of the largest disused gaols in Europe, covering some of the most heroic and tragic events in Ireland's emergence as a modern nation from 1780's to the 1920's. The prision was built in 1792 and closed in 1924. The leaders of the 1916 Easter Sunday Rising were executed here.
Attractions include a major exhibition detailing the political and penal history of the prision and its restoration. The tour of the prison includes an audio-visual show.
